hurricane

Tuesday, August 30th, 2005

The pic links to some photos on flickr, the last time I was there, for a wedding. I lived in New Orleans for a summer and went there countless times from Tennessee as far back as I can recall. My friend Laras brother and stepmom live on North Rampart near one of the levees that leaked and they didnt evacuate, but battened down the hatches. Miss Patsy and Adrian, I hope youre OK!

a tame of gag

Tuesday, August 16th, 2005

rain inflicted a meme upon me, and now I must list five idiosyncratic things about myself that I dont mind hurling out for all my superfans to memorize.

My five idiosyncracies are:

1. I cannot see a picture on the sidewalk and *not* pick it up

2. Ditto playing cards

3. When riding muni or any other public transport on one of my many glam holiday destinations, I will stand the entire time rather than be pinned like a science project moth against the window next to someone I dont know.

4. I have named MUNI seats according to desirability.

peruse: the coveted single seat: singular sensation, double seat: double trouble, triple row: triple threat

5. When passengering in a car, I cannot go over railroad tracks unless I kiss the back of my hands, and hit the car-roof in one swift motion while lifting my feet.

If I tag youre it to camper he will add me to his hate blog, so Scamper, when you return from the Montana outback…you are so it.

robots and donuts

Wednesday, August 10th, 2005

the robot work of eric joyner makes me so very glad that I can glimpse into a world where robots, life savers, allsorts candies and aliens frolic frantically about. I love all this technology, that brings this sort of stuff to me.

happy accidents with holga

Saturday, August 6th, 2005

Holgafied tall ships. The holga was like shooting through an empty plastic kleenex box. I felt so clumsy and was sure I was messing it all up. Truth be told, there were some slips. But…the light leaks really add some ambiance and the double exposures look pretty cool. So, it was all intentional, in hindsight.

I have been illustrating along with the illustration friday themes for a while now. This is my first linked illo. Technically, this was for last weeks theme, aging. But I think it can also work for this weeks theme, empty, cos yeah, her head is a cupcake.

diana

Thursday, August 4th, 2005

i just got my diana camera in the mail in what was certainly one of my speediest ebay transactions, ive got to remember to leave some good feedback. thanks john! i have pined for a diana since about age 19, when i would scour thrift stores by the score and turn up sundry vintage polaroids, brownie cameras, many a model of kodak, but never ever a diana. i know, i know, there are photoshop filters that can vignette an image and sort of approximate the effect, but to me nothing else captures the world *exactly* like diana.
